enter using safe mode. probably you did not have a administrator password.
2 :
Perhaps if you can disassemble the laptop, there will be a small battery inside, less than 1 inch (not the regular battery). Remove it for 1 minute, then replace it and put the computer back together. Reason: that small battery was powering the memory that knows your password. Perhaps it's better to bring it to a computer store and have them fix it.

The following website gives you steps to hack into the system without requiring the username and password. However, you will need the Windows XP installation CD for access: http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMArticle.asp?ID=305

A new Toshiba Laptop?

Toshiba Laptop?
I have a new Toshiba Laptop, I have only had it for a couple of days now. A couple of times now it has gone black. It isnt shutting down totally but the screen goes blank but still is getting power, all the lights indicate it is still on. I think it might just be getting hot. Anyone heard of problems like this? This is my first Toshiba. I might just take it back to Best Buy.

I have a Toshiba satellite laptop and have had problems with overheating and the same thing that happened to you happened to me. The hard drive is probably fried; the screen goes black because there is nothing to load; the laptop stays on because the RAM is still running.
2 :
have you checked the power options? Sounds like its hibernating. I am using xp so can't advise you on vista. have a look at the control panel.

I bought a Toshiba A110 Laptop?

Toshiba Laptop??
I bought a Toshiba A110 Laptop just over a year ago and the Limited Warranty has run out, the laptop was purchased with a credit card bringing additional warranty but I am unaware as to if that would cover the large crack on the top cover of my laptop. Please help??

The best advice we can give is to call Toshiba and see if it covers physical/accidental damage.
2 :
When in doubt just call and ask, nobody wud be able to tell other then them bcuz we havnt seen the waranty nor the crack! So just call costumer support and ask!
3 :
I don't think it would cover physical damage, sorry
4 :
I'm intrigued - how did you come to crack it - did you perchance bash it in temper when Windows crashed yet again, giving you some meaningless error message - not actually telling you what the f..k was wrong with the bloody thing?
5 :
Usually warranties don't cover physical damage like that. Computer warranties are mostly for covering your internal components going bad. The crack in the top most likely wont be covered.
6 :
as warranty goes, no! unless you can prove it was something in the unit which caused the damage, eg overheating or a very bad hinge, you could try a bleeding heart approach direct to toshiba, u never know mention yahoo answers and they might look into it for ya! best of luck.
7 :
Cracked cover is due to neglect, its not covered.

you have erased the system files and need to reformat using ur disk that came with the computer. Place the disk in before you restart the laptop.
2 :
Fiest of all......you ERASED the hard drive. There's the problem. Now you have to load a new operating system.
3 :
yo can use your restore cd or any windows cd to format your hard drive and reinstall windows then go to Toshiba's website and download the drivers for your computer
4 :
Computers produced by OEM, including Toshiba, usually come with a recovery disk (CD or DVD) or there is recovery partition oh the hard drive. Use one or the other. If you recall that there was a recovery partition, you need to find user manual to find how that software can be activated (in most cases you need to hit one of F1 to F12 buttons on start). Most likely you erased just your drive C and recovery software was not touched. If you have recovery disk - just put it in optical drive and restart machine. If none of these is available - try to contact Toshiba. They might be selling recovery software. I know for example that HP does. Good luck!
