Backup all the date you wish to keep on dick etc!!! Then put the boot cd in the drive and restart the pc. whe it boots up it will check the cd dvive automaticaly 1st thing, then you will be prompted if you would like to boot from disc click enter or ok!!! Then folow the instructions as promted this will reinstall everything back to the original factory setting like new, and then insert your backup cd's/dvds and put everythign you saved back on the laptop!!1 will take good hour or more!

Do you see the network when your go to Control Panel and search for a network connection? Do you have the WEP number? You should be able to add your laptop the the network from your Network Server. Go to Start, Select "Network Connections" Go to "Create a Home Network" and add your laptop using the Wizard.

I now have 9 vertical lines on my Toshiba laptop screen?

I now have 9 vertical lines on my Toshiba laptop screen?
On my 5yr old Toshiba satellite laptop, I have been gaining vertical lines that stay on screen when laptop on! What causes these and how do I get rid of them?

The lines are caused by minor cracks in the LCD circuit board causing entire lines of pixels to fail to light properly. They are not repairable. The LCD screen needs to be replaced.

There are many causes to things like that. The first and most common is that you might have dropped your laptop and the screen was damaged. Another one is that maybe your RAM is low because you haven't restarted in a while. That can cause the same thing. Also the monitor might just be getting old and the LED lights might be going bad. The video card could also be going bad. Another cause could be if you have a magnet near the screen or hard drive. There are many results of this. Some of them can be that the screen gets lines that you are seeing. Another could be that the hard drive could get erased completely. Also you laptop could shut down or hibernate suddenly if a magnet is near the battery.

It may be something with your graphics card. You may want to adjust your settings with your graphics card. If you have access to a computer monitor try plugging it into your laptop. If the external monitor has the same lines it could be the graphics card but if the external monitor is fine then it could be a problem with your laptop screen. I got all my info from the site below. I typed your problem into google and that is what I got. You might want to try search Toshiba's website too.

If you see these lines the moment you turn the computer on then it is a hardware issue more than likely a loose or bad LCD cable. Call a local laptop repair facility some will verify this is the issue for free. If it is just the cable and not a bad LCD, graphics card or anything like that the repair should be $50-$100. You could also call Toshiba at 1-800- 457-7777.
