it would most likely cost more to repair it then get a new one, crystal displays were not used in the las decade, they are very hard to find

Get use replacement part and do it yourself then yes. If you have to pay someone to do it then no. It will cost more then what your laptop is worth.
3 :
Buy a new laptop even a low cost one will be faster than the one with the crystal display.

In my opinion, It's not worth. The same thing happened to ,y laptop. Laptops are cheaper than they were 5 years ago. A screen would cost you around 180 bucks plus shipping, plus instalation.. and plus the worries if the screen didnt get on shipping. Dont go to this trouble. Get a new laptop. You can see use the broken one as a desktop if you want to ( you need to buy an LCD monitor).

New Toshiba laptop can barely hear when volume on maximum?
I just got a new laptop, a Toshiba. When I put the volume on maximum it is so low, I can barely hear my music, and the computer volume and the system volume is at maximum. Is there anyway I can boost the volume?

there should be a third volume control: windows toshiba/realtek software application Check the 3rd one. also, the speakers/earphones you are using might be plugged into the wrong hole. try to unplug them and use the built in speakers. speakers may have gone bad too. if the speakers are ok and the software is adjusted properly, it's a bad unit and you should return it.

see if the wave volume is at max as well!!

for maintainance... i suggest you do the disk clean up first then do the defrag so that u clean the hard drive first of unneccessary files and the defrag wont take that long to complete.

S-video cable usually but if your HDTV got a DVI input it can be a VGA cable with DVI to VGA adapter or if your HDTV got a VGA input then it can be just the VGA cable.
