My Toshiba laptop's screen is broken

My Toshiba laptop's screen is broken. How do I switch to an external monitor?
I foolishly cracked the screen on my Toshiba laptop but fortunately I could still see 1/4 of the screen. I was able to set up an external monitor and I switch over to use that monitor exclusively by using the right click menu on the Windows desktop. I just moved to a new house and disconnected the monitor from the laptop. When I turn on the laptop I find that the screen is now completely unreadable and it won't switch over to the monitor. Is there a keyboard shortcut I can use to switch over to the monitor? I tried Fn + F5 but it didn't work.

Try fn + F4 That is how I do it on my HP If that doesn't work, go to the Toshiba web site and download the user manual for your laptop. You'll find that in the support section of the site. Good luck. Peace Jim.

How can I fix horizontal lines on my Toshiba laptop screen?

How can I fix horizontal lines on my Toshiba laptop screen?
I have a Toshiba Satellite A45S1202 laptop, and a few days ago, horizontal lines appeared on my screen. The guy at Staples said I need a new screen. But now the lines are gone and the screen is fine. Does anyone know a simple fix for this problem without replacing the screen? Now that this has happened once, is my screen about to go completely out, or do I have some time before it does? Any troubleshooting help you have would be appreciated! Thanks!

Check your processor's power settings in the advanced power settings options. My Toshiba Laptop used to do that as well... until I get my processor's min/max power at 100%. I hope this makes sense to you and that it helps =)

Will these upgrades work for my Toshiba laptop?

Will these upgrades work for my Toshiba laptop?
I bought a Toshiba laptop from Wal-Mart about six months ago and it has vista home premium 32 bit, 2.9 gigs of ram and 231 gb of memory. I was wondering if I could put a AMD Athlon x2 5600+ Cpu and a ATI Radeon HD 3850+ video card in to it with out upgrading any thing else or if they would even fit into my laptop. Thank you in advance.

Laptop CPU and video cards generally can't be upgraded at all without replacing the motherboard - which means you might as well buy a new laptop.

no>laptops can't be upgraded except ram, hard drive and dvd drive.

How can I download a podcast onto my ipod from my Toshiba laptop?

How can I download a podcast onto my ipod from my Toshiba laptop?
I have both a MacBook and a Toshiba laptop, and my ipod is set to Windows. But for some reason, music downloads fine, but the Kevin Smith podcast cannot and will not get on there. Anyone know how I can fix that?

Is the podcast you're trying to download a video podcast? Cause sometimes iTunes won't even allow you to download it if it knows you only have an audio iPod.
