Why Toshiba laptop does not recognize battery?

Why Toshiba laptop does not recognize battery?
A few months ago, my boss bought a Toshiba laptop. After sometimes, the laptop could not recognize the battery. We thought that the problem was with the battery and bought a new one. Still the battery could not show to be charging if power was connected and neither was it being recognized by the laptop. Can anybody help me understand what could be the problem?

The only thing I could think of is that it's a BIOS problem. Has your boss been using any registry cleaners that could have messed up the BIOS? If it's not BIOS then it's probably just a battery hardware problem, the connections from the battery to the rest of the laptop are loose or broken. For a full diagnosis you'll have to send it to Best Buy or some other tech place.

The charging circuit in your laptop is hardware controlled, so no virus is responsible. Your hardware has failed. That usually means a motherboard replacement since the charging circuit is soldered to the board. If the laptop works plugged in, just use it that way. Mother board replacement runs $100-$300 depending on the laptop. Incidentally, harddrive "cleaners" do not affect BIOS. Only BIOS upgrade files from the laptop or motherboard manufacturer or manual changes can affect BIOS settings.
