My toshiba laptop will just go black screened

Toshiba Laptop?
Ok out of the blue my toshiba laptop will just go black screened, i can't figure out why but it just does it every so often. Its brand new so nothing should be wrong with it, if anyone knows i would greatly appreciate it because this thing is new and i'm very mad that its already giving me issues. I think it might have something to do with Windows Vista. I've had all kinds of problems related to that OS.

could also be a loose lcd cable. it's the internal component that connects the screen to the video card. move your screen back and forth. if that changes the picture back then it is a loose cable. also check to see if there is a "fn" key operation that turns on the lcd backlight for your notebook. look for a blue picture of a screen at the top of your keyboard. hold down the "fn" key at the bottom left of the keyboard and then press that button. not all notebooks have this feature. Other than that make sure your notebook is not overheating.

This has to do with your power saver options. Just click on the little blue battery icon (with the hands around it) on the botton right hand corner of the screen. At first, when I bought mine, I though it was messed up because the screen would get dark after unplugging it, but the key lies in the Toshiba Power Saver!!!

Out of the blue, means in the middle of typing or when it is unused for a number of minutes. Some have a built in screensaver that will blank out the screen after a few minutes of non-use especially if it is running on the battery. Does a touch of the mouse or a key turn it back on or does it require a reboot. The first case can be adjusted and the second would spell trouble.
